THE POPLAR RONDELLE

The erecta poplars are arranged here in a circle and are a horticultural representation of the prehistoric site of Stonehenge. Located on the Salisbury Plains in southern England, Stonehenge is a prehistoric construction of standing stones arranged in concentric circles. This marvelous site was built in three stages, the oldest dating back to the end of the Neolithic, around 2400 BC. It was determined that the site was used by Druids in ceremonies, and to measure astronomical events, primarily the movements of the Moon and Sun. It is said that these druids occasionally performed sacrifices on the surface of the dolmen located in the centre. A legend also speaks of a place where virgins came to dance in the moonlight.
