THE PIGEONNIER
(1988-1995)

At the Seigneurie Mount-Murray, the Pigeonnier is part of the garden of its name, and it is approached, as with the Taj Mahal, by walking along a long rectangular Reflection Pool. The linear formality is enhanced by the alignment of parallel avenues of low cedar hedges, Palissades à l’Italienne of double rows of clipped little-leaf lindens.

The Pigeonnier, an imposing square structure characterized by inclined walls covered with clapboards, is opened at its base by four large symmetrical arched bays.

The Pigeonnier is located at the crossroads and flanked by ponds on three sides. The main axis of the Pigeonnier continues through a rotunda of Thuyas itself located at the meeting of a transverse axis opening at each end on a theatre representing two quartets of musical frogs in concert. The main axis then extends to a lake surrounded by trees and pastures, extending further towards the Laurentians' blue landscape.
