THE ROSE GARDEN

(1958)

The Rose Garden replaces the Blue Garden originally laid out in the same place and was designed to balance the White Garden opposite the Green Carpet. It was designed by Patrick Morgan, an artist and art teacher, who also designed the vast avenue of perennials extending from the Roseraie to the wall fountain at the edge of the woods, thus creating an important transverse axis to the Green Carpet.

All the other gardens and structures were created after 1978 when the parents of the current owners undertook a long-term plan to highlight the horticultural potential of the site and its topography.
