THE WHITE GARDEN
(1928)
The concept for this garden comes from the popular 1920s writings of Vita Sackville-West, who created a particularly beautiful white garden and recreated Sissinghurst’s magnificent gardens in Kent, England.
The flowerbeds, lined with hawthorns, lilacs, viburnums and mock oranges with white flowers, are arranged around an oval basin with a ground-level water feature, filled with white water lilies and fed by the weathered lead statue of the little flute player.
In recent years, a quantity of annuals have been introduced to this garden to accentuate the effect all season long.
